This festival, orchestrated by the Collectif Day Z, highlights the rich cultural heritage of the Algerian Sahara in an eco-friendly setting.
The festivities will kick off on October 5 with captivating film screenings, including 143 Desert Street by Hassen Ferhani and At(home) by Elisabeth Leuvrey, which explore the ecological realities and impacts of the desert. Enriching talks with experts such as Nawal Benali, and discussions on ecotourism and sustainable projects like « Tafilelt Tejdit, » will also be offered.
Films, talks, dances, and « Tradi » market
Saturday will also be filled with live concerts, featuring artists like Kader Tarhanine and the Belgian band Kel Assouf, who blend traditional Saharan music with modern influences. A Saharan brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and DJ sets in the evening will add a festive touch to this exceptional day.
Sunday, October 6, will continue with a varied program including workshops for children, a second-hand market, and activities for the whole family. Live concerts will feature Aïcha Lebgaâ and Gaâda Diwan from Béchar, bringing an authentic and vibrant touch to the event.
In parallel, Sirocco Day’Z will host a « Tradi » market where traditional clothing and handmade crafts will be sold, with proceeds going to the Association of Moon Children to support families in southern Algeria.
This event is part of an eco-responsible approach, with initiatives aimed at reducing the ecological footprint and promoting responsible consumption. By collaborating with La Recyclerie, Collectif Day Z demonstrates its commitment to sustainability while celebrating the cultural diversity of the Sahara.
