CANEX WKND 2024 : creative Africa in the spotlight in Algiers
From November 9 to 12, 2024, Algiers will host the new edition of CANEX WKND, a flagship event organized by Afreximbank, aimed at celebrating African creativity in all its forms. This event will bring together leaders from the continent’s cultural and creative industries to explore new opportunities for economic development and global influence.

Algiers will become the beating heart of African creativity from November 9 to 12, 2024, during the annual edition of CANEX WKND, organized by Afreximbank. This event serves as a genuine platform for African talent in fields such as music, cinema, fashion, visual art, and more. Over four days, participants will experience a series of exhibitions, workshops, performances, and conferences led by experts and influential creators from Africa and the diaspora.
The gastronomic showcase will be a highlight, with renowned chefs participating to showcase the diversity and richness of African cuisine. From Lagos to the Caribbean, and through Cape Town, these chefs will tell the story of Africa through their dishes, a continent where flavors, culinary techniques, and culture harmoniously intertwine.
A genuine platform for African talent
The art exhibition will be another highlight of CANEX 2024. At the National Museum of Fine Arts in Algiers, exceptional visual works by renowned artists and promising young talents will be displayed, illustrating the diversity of contemporary African artistic expressions.
African cinema will also take center stage with the CANEX Shorts Awards ceremony, where young filmmakers will be recognized for their originality and impact. Simultaneously, the CANEX Prize for African Publishing will reward authors whose literary works continue to enrich the continent’s cultural heritage.
