From January 1, 2026, ECOWAS will abolish all air transport taxes and cut passenger and security fees by 25%. The goal is to lower fares, boost traffic and strengthen regional airlines. The Commission, led by Umar Alieu Turay, will monitor implementation through a regional oversight mechanism.
