African Book Fair in Paris 2024 : breaking boundaries of imagination, rethinking hutures
The African Book Fair in Paris 2024 returns from March 15 to 17 at the 6th district City Hall, showcasing the richness of African literature. The 3rd edition will host nearly 200 authors and 80 publishers from Africa, Europe, America, and the Caribbean, celebrating the diversity of a thriving global literature.

Under the theme « Breaking Boundaries of Imagination, Rethinking Futures, » the fair will explore works written in French, English, Arabic, Portuguese, and in the 1,800 African languages. With almost 30 debates, exhibitions, performances, and screenings, the fair caters to all, commencing with a professional day.
Country Spotlight: Côte d’Ivoire and Tribute to Henri Lopes
Côte d’Ivoire is the guest country, and special attention will be given to Henri Lopes, a recently departed writer and politician. The full program will be unveiled in February, promising a diverse array of authors and publishers, including book signings and roundtable discussions.
Strengthening Ties Among African Book Professionals
Since its launch in 2021, the fair has gained popularity, doubling its visitor count in the second edition in 2023. This year, it collaborates with the International Book Fair in Abidjan for a three-year partnership supported by the French Institute and financed by the AFD.
The project aims to promote reading in Ivorian regions and strengthen ties among African book professionals. Actions such as exhibitions, professional interventions, online resources, and a reading competition on TikTok will be organized. The professional component includes workshops, an audit of libraries, training in cultural mediation, and a professional space at the May 2024 International Book Fair in Abidjan.
The 3rd edition of the fair will take place at the 6th district City Hall, 76 rue Bonaparte, Paris.
