Environment : AfDB launches project to manage hazardous chemicals in 11 african countries

The African Development Bank has approved a landmark project, AFLDC-2, to address hazardous chemicals, including persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and mercury, in 11 African countries. The initiative aims to strengthen technical capacity and chemicals management in Angola, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda and Zambia. Funded with $21.3 million from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and supported by the AfDB, the project is an important step towards a cleaner and more resilient Africa.
