TAS 2023 : connect Africa

Accelerating Africa's digital agenda is the focus of the sixth edition of Transform Africa, which takes place from 26 to 28 April in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. For this first edition outside of Rwanda, more than 5,000 delegates from over 100 countries are gathered under the aegis of Smart Africa to engage in the digital transformation of the continent in multiple sectors.

After an aborted Guinean edition due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Zimbabwe has been selected from among the bids of the 36 other members of the Smart Africa Alliance. To host the sixth edition of the major pan-African tech event.

Connect, transform and innovate

Organised by the Smart Africa Alliance, the Transform Africa Summit, which takes place from 26 to 28 April 2023 in Victoria Falls, is one of the continent’s leading technology and digital events. It brings together more than 5,000 delegates from over 100 countries, all committed to the digital transformation of the continent across multiple sectors.

Heads of state, who make up the Smart Africa board, including host country president Emmerson Mnangagwa who will open the summit and host other dignitaries including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini, and President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, will attend the three-day event aimed at making key decisions for Africa’s socio-economic development. They will be joined by ministers, industry leaders and key players in the ICT world who will be attending the event.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Connect, Transform and Innovate’ and the focus will be on regulation and policy, digital infrastructure financing, capacity building, skills development and continental digital trade.

2023 is a pivotal year for Africa’s digital transformation

Open to public participation, the summit will feature conferences, exhibitions and roundtables around the same issue: accelerating the continent’s digital agenda. In other words, to transform African economies into smart economies that are more competitive, more agile, more open and more innovative. It is an opportunity for meaningful engagements on how governments can attract large-scale investment and enable rapid growth and exports, as well as for the private sector to thrive in an ICT-based ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, transforming African nations into smart societies.
