Senegal : AfDB grants €8.51 million loan for efficient lighting

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a €8.51 million loan for the Efficient Lighting Promotion Program (PPLEEF) in Senegal. This ambitious project aims to replace incandescent bulbs with LEDs, thereby generating significant energy savings and reducing carbon emissions. Approximately 700,000 households and 80,000 small businesses in Dakar, Thiès, and Diourbel will benefit from this initiative. Moreover, the program has the potential to be expanded to other African countries, helping to reduce energy consumption during peak hours and lower household electricity bills. Over the past five years, the AfDB has invested nearly $6 billion in energy projects across the continent, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development in Africa.
