On April 18, 2025, Namibia announced a multi-million-dollar plan to build and upgrade sports facilities in five towns. At the opening of the Namibian Newspaper Cup in Outjo, Minister Sanet Steenkamp said the project aims to empower youth through safe spaces and position sports as a driver of economic growth and national pride.
