Botswana: strategic agreements with Oman on mining and energy

Botswana and Oman signed agreements covering mining exploration, oil storage and a 500 MW solar plant, according to Botswana’s presidency. The move aims to reduce reliance on diamonds, which account for about one-third of government revenue, World Bank data show. The solar project, awarded to NAQAA, supports the official target of increasing renewables from 8% to 50% by 2030.
