Benin: Romuald Wadagni elected president with 94.05% on April 14, 2026

According to provisional results released on April 14, 2026 by the Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome, Romuald Wadagni won the presidential election with 94.05% of the vote, against 5.95% for Paul Hounkpè. Voter turnout reached 58.75% based on official data from the same institution. A former Minister of Economy and Finance, he will succeed Patrice Talon on May 23, 2026, following the end of the incumbent’s two constitutional terms.
