Uganda : Election Commission confirms Museveni’s re-election

President Yoweri Museveni, in power for 35 years, was elected for a 6th term, with 58.64% of the votes in a presidential poll which recorded a turnout of 57.22% out of nearly 18 million registered voters . This is what the Election Commission has just declared. Its main challenger Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, is credited with 34.83% of the votes. Follow far behind Amuriat Oboi, candidate of the Forum for Democratic Change (3.24% of the vote), and the others less than 1%. Note that Bobi Wine has already rejected the legitimacy of the results and a strong presence of the armed forces during the announcement of the results.
