Togo Growth forecast at 5.3% in 2020, driven by agriculture (AfDB)
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has just published its latest economic forecasts for the continent. Regarding Togo, the Pan-African institution is generally optimistic, and identifies in particular the agricultural sector as the engine of growth estimated at 5.3% for this new year. Indeed, « the economic outlook is encouraging, with growth expected to reach 5.3% in 2020 and 5.5% in 2021″, according to the report. In addition, the positive movement should be stimulated “thanks to the good performance of agriculture and sound monetary management. » In this dynamic, the debt ratio should be less than 70% of GDP for this year, with an average budget of a deficit of 2.1% of GDP, and a current account deficit of 5.2% of GDP in 2020 and 5% in 2021.
