Kenya Economy grows 5.1% year on year in Q3 2019
The Kenyan economy grew by 5.1% between the end of September 2018 and the end of September 2019 according to data communicated by the National Bureau of Statistics, against a rate of 6.4% in the third quarter of 2018, according to information relayed by Financial Afrik . In the first quarter of the past year, the economic growth of the East African country had reached 5.6% against 6.5% during the same period of 2018, a slowdown mainly due to the rainfall deficit and its consequences on the performance of agriculture. This conjuncture had also led the World Bank to lower its economic growth forecasts for the country, counting on a rate of 5.7%, against 5.8% previously announced. For their part, the government and the Central Bank had announced that they expected growth of 6.3% at the end of the year, compared to 6.1% in 2018.
