Uganda Creation of a $ 200 million environmental protection fund

On the occasion of his message to the nation, President Musevini announced the creation of a $ 200 million fund to restore his destroyed environment. He called on environmentalists around the world to help create this fund to restore the destroyed wetlands and dangerous mountain slopes that have caused flooding and deadly landslides in this East African country. He also said that Uganda has already obtained $ 24 million, part of which has been used to restore destroyed wetlands in the east and west of the country. « We have already tried this in the restored Limoto wetland, where we have created five fish ponds on 0.4 hectare at the edge of the marsh, which bring in 120 million shillings (about 33,000 dollars) per year to their operators, » said he indicated.
