Zimbabwe: lithium export quotas introduced to Chinese companies after suspension

Zimbabwe moved in April 2026 to partially resume lithium concentrate exports through quotas granted to Chengxin Lithium Group and Sinomine Resource Group, following a February suspension aimed at curbing illicit practices and revenue losses. Official data from Zimbabwean authorities show exports reached 1.128 million tonnes to China in 2025, representing about 15% of China’s imports. The policy seeks to promote domestic processing and increase value retention.
