Nigeria: Reopening of Port Harcourt refinery
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL) resumed operations at its Port Harcourt refinery on November 26, 2024, after multiple delays in its renovation. The refinery, one of four closed in 2020 for upgrades, now has a production capacity of 210,000 barrels per day. This revitalization, financed by Afreximbank through a $1.5 billion deal, is expected to boost local economies and technical expertise. The NNPCL aims to accelerate the reopening of additional refineries, including those in Warri and Kaduna.
