Ivory Coast : Japan restores six artifacts

apan returned six cultural artifacts to Ivory Coast in a ceremony held in Tokyo on March 27, 2025, attended by the Ivorian Minister of Culture, Françoise Remarck. The items, from the Akan group, include a pair of Baoulé statues, a Sénoufo mask, two Chiwara bronzes, and 21 gold-weighing objects. Originally gifted by President Félix Houphouët-Boigny in 1993, the artifacts were returned for spiritual reasons, reflecting their cultural significance.
