Ethiopia : 169 million USD from horticultural exports

In the first quarter of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that more than 169.5 million USD were generated by the export of flowers, vegetables and fruits. According to Mekonnen Solomon, horticultural export coordinator at the Ministry of Agriculture, this performance exceeded 63.1% of the established plan.

Total revenue came from the export of 96,443.36 tonnes of flowers, vegetables and fruit during the specified period. Among these products, cut flowers were the main contributor, accounting for over 146.26 million USD in revenue thanks to the export of 30,922.69 tonnes to the world market. The vegetable sub-sector also played an important role, bringing in 17.2 million USD thanks to the export of 5.5 million USD worth of fruit and vegetables.
