Botswana/Namibia : strategic digital connectivity pact signed

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) of Namibia and state‑owned Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Gaborone to strengthen digital infrastructure between the two countries. The pact establishes a structured framework for cross‑border fibre interconnection, capacity exchange and IP transit collaboration, aiming to make networks more reliable and faster, particularly along the Buitepos‑Ngoma corridor. According to MTC Managing Director Licky Erastus, the deal supports the company’s international expansion strategy and reinforces Namibia’s role as a transit and digital gateway market. BoFiNet acting CEO Keabetswe Segole described the agreement as a strategic national initiative that will enhance regional digital resilience and deepen bilateral relations.
