Egypt : Implementation of six refinery development projects worth over $4 bn announced

On February 15 2026, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, announced the implementation of six petroleum refinery development projects with total investments exceeding $4 billion, aimed at boosting domestic output, creating added value, and cutting fuel import costs, according to an official statement from the ministry following a meeting with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Vice President for Africa, Ethiopis Tafara, and Regional Director Cheick‑Oumar Sylla.
