African startups raised about $3.1 billion in 2025, up from $2.2 billion in 2024, according to data released on January 5, 2026 by Launch Base Africa. Kenya topped the continent with $933.6 million, ahead of South Africa ($625.7 million) and Egypt ($430 million).
Investor appetite shifted toward profitability, debt financing and infrastructure-linked sectors.
