The iftar, the evening meal marking the end of the daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan, has been included in UNESCO’s catalogue of cultural treasures.
The application for recognition of this socio-cultural tradition was submitted jointly by Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to UNESCO, the United Nations cultural body wrote on its website.
