Ethiopia/Turkey : energy cooperation pact to co‑develop renewables and infrastructure

During Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s first official visit to Addis Ababa in 11 years, Ethiopia and Türkiye signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on energy cooperation, concluded by Alparslan Bayraktar and Habtamu Itefa. The framework sets up joint development of electricity generation, renewable energy investment, energy efficiency, and collaboration on hydropower plant equipment and turbine installation, backed by public and private sector support to improve grid infrastructure and energy systems. The agreement is part of a broader roadmap to deepen bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors, reinforcing both nations’ commitment to sustainable energy and economic partnership.
