Somalia : gets $4.5 billion debt reduction

Somalia has officially granted $4.5 billion in irrevocable debt relief from international creditors under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative. This debt relief for the Horn of Africa country was approved by the boards of directors of the IMF and the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank window dedicated to the poorest countries.
