Nigeria : $2.5 billion for healthcare
Nigeria’s Head of State, Bola Tinubu, announces the immediate release of $2.5 billion to strengthen the primary healthcare system over the period 2024-2026.
Speaking on December 12, National Universal Health Coverage Day, the Nigerian president said the funding was aimed at restructuring the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. The Fund’s purpose is to guarantee access to a basic basket of healthcare services for the poorest households. Part of the funding will go towards in-depth reform of primary healthcare centers and capacity-building for healthcare personnel.
