Economic Growth : Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, and Tanzania among Top performers (World Bank report)

The World Bank’s Africa Pulse report highlights the real GDP growth of several Sub-Saharan African countries in 2024. Côte d’Ivoire (6.5%), Uganda (6%), and Tanzania (5.4%) stand out as top performers, supported by structural reforms and increased investment in public infrastructure. However, overall forecasts for the region have been downgraded due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, whose economy is expected to contract by 20% in 2023 and 15% in 2024. Excluding Sudan, regional growth remains positive, with a projected 3.5% increase in 2024. Despite these challenges, eight countries are expected to achieve growth above 5%, reflecting progress toward development goals. Among the ten most dynamic economies are Rwanda, Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Ethiopia, Uganda, Niger, Mauritius, The Gambia, and Tanzania.
