Development aid from Western countries reached a new peak in 2023 for the fifth consecutive year, according to the OECD. Ukraine was the main beneficiary. Although aid to Africa is on the rise, it remains below 2020 levels. Only a few countries meet the UN goal of dedicating 0.7% of their wealth to development aid. France reduced its aid by over 10% in 2023.
