Morocco : launch of Africa’s first electric battery Gigafactory

Morocco has officially launched construction on its first electric vehicle battery Gigafactory in the free trade zone of Kenitra. This large-scale project, valued at 65 billion dirhams and spanning 156 hectares, aims to establish the country as a leader in green mobility across Africa. With a planned annual production capacity of 100 GWh, the Gigafactory is expected to be operational by 2026, strengthening the supply chain of Morocco’s automotive sector.
