Ethiopia Justin Trudeau at AU summit seeks African support for UN Security Council seat
As part of his African tour, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde at the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa on February 8, 2020. Following the exchange, the Canadian Prime Minister announced talks toward an investment agreement.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that Canada and Ethiopia were preparing to begin negotiations toward a foreign investment protection agreement.
Trudeau’s African tour is aimed, among other things, at securing support for a seat on the United Nations Security Council. It was in this capacity that the Canadian participated in the African Union summit in Addis Ababa.
