Tunisia : European Union releases €150 million in financial aid

The European Union (EU) has released a crucial €150 million in financial aid to Tunisia, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission announced on December 20.

The funding is intended to “support Tunisia’s efforts” “to boost the economy by improving public finance management and the business and investment climate”, according to a press release.

This aid had been agreed when an agreement in principle was signed on July 16 in Tunis for a new “partnership” between the EU and the North African country, which also included a major component to combat irregular immigration.
