Tax evasion in Africa : over $8 billion annually (report)

The Tax Justice Network estimates that tax evasion in Africa amounts to over $8 billion annually, equivalent to 15% of the continent’s healthcare expenditure. Despite a new international agreement targeting a minimum corporate tax rate of 15%, wealthy nations continue to exert significant influence over tax matters. Outgoing illicit financial flows, particularly in the mining sector, exacerbate inequalities and hinder social development. African countries must enhance cooperation and implement concrete measures to combat this loss of revenue.
