After the postponement of the 2014 edition for public health reasons in the West African sub-region, the 14th edition of the International Crafts Fair of Ouagadougou (SIAO) in Burkina Faso, will be under the theme of » African crafts, female entrepreneurship and social protection. » Ghana will be the guest of honor of the 2016 edition.
SIAO brings together all the actors of the crafts sector in Africa. A unique platform for meetings, exchanges and business opportunities around a sector that contributes to the creation of jobs providing income to tens of thousands of West Africans . This fair aims to be a melting pot of authentic craftsmanship of the African continent. This is a setting where different stakeholders can express their creativity by exhibiting their finest crafts selected by art specialists. This art contributes to the enhancement of cultural heritage and development of new trends.
For the edition 2016, professional and general public will discover themed sales exhibitions in the fields of fashion, tastes, arts, and seminars. Workshops and professional B to B meetings will also be offered. Are added to this, classic exhibits including notably bronze, leather goods, design, sculpture, basketry, pottery, weaving, decorating, crafts recovery, food crafts among others … Furthermore, specific meetings will be organized around the role of women in the economy of crafts. Solicitous to expand the range of services and to meet the expectations of professionals and artisans, the fair introduced this year many innovations among which we can find the opportunity to register and pay online booth’s rental fee.
