Renewable Energy: Actis and Mainstream sell Lekela Power
Actis, a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, and Mainstream Renewable Power, the global wind and solar company, that owns 60% and 40%, respectively, of Lekela Power, have completed the sale of this platform, considered to be the largest independent renewable energy producer in Africa. This was announced by the two companies on Monday, March 20, 2023.
With a portfolio of 2.8 GW of projects in operation and development, Lekela Power has been sold to Infinity Power, a joint venture owned by Egypt’s Infinity and UAE’s Masdar. The transaction was funded by equity from shareholders and a loan from Absa Corporate and Investment Banking (Absa CIB) and The Mauritius Commercial Bank Limited (MCB).
