Orange has acquired, through its subsidiary Orange Côte d’Ivoire, 100% of the mobile operator Airtel Burkina Faso. The signing of this contract had already been held in January 2016 with Airtel which is none other than the second mobile operator in Burkina Faso. The operator has 4.6 million customers on a base of active customers over the last 30 days. Moreover, the market for mobile financial services, Airtel is the undisputed leader. It also has an interconnection with Orange Money in neighboring countries for international transfers. With the deployment of the 3.75G in over 100 communities, Airtel is positioned as the first Internet provider in Burkina Faso.
