Mozambique: Reduction of illegal fishing in the Bazaruto Archipelago Park

The administration of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park (PNAB), Mozambique’s largest marine conservation area, recorded a significant reduction in cases of illegal fishing, by almost half, in 2020 compared to the previous year . Following the strengthening of inspections, 25 illegal ships were seized in 2020 while in 2019 the authorities had only managed to confiscate four.
