Mozambique : EIB Global and Moza Banco provide €20 million to grow women-led businesses

As part of their initiative under the EU’s « Global Gateway » strategy, EIB Global and Moza Banco will make financing available to SMEs in Mozambique, focusing on those owned or run by women.

As women are less likely to have access to adequate financing for their businesses, the EIB-Moza Banco credit facility will address this financing gap.

The project will support economic growth, prosperity and gender equality.

Women entrepreneurs in Mozambique will have easier access to finance thanks to a EUR 10 million European Investment Bank (EIB) loan signed today. This financing will enable Moza Banco to set up a new 20 million EUR credit line targeting the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The African continent has one of the highest percentages of female entrepreneurs in the world. More than three quarters of those working are women.
