Mozambique: early repayment of about $630 million to the IMF brings debt to zero 

Mozambique fully repaid its debt to the International Monetary Fund by the end of March 2026, following an early payment of around $630 million (about SDR 515 million). Official IMF data shows the country’s outstanding credit dropped to zero. The repayment was made ahead of the scheduled timeline running from 2026 to 2029, marking a key milestone in Mozambique’s financial recovery after the 2016 debt crisis.
