Kenya : seeking chinese investors to boost industrial competitiveness

Kenya aims to enhance its industrial competitiveness by inviting Chinese investors, as announced by government officials on Thursday. Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Principal Secretary of the Department of State for Investment Promotion, emphasized that Chinese investors, with their expertise and advanced technologies, could help diversify Kenya’s industrial base and manufacture competitive goods for the global market.

The goal is to leverage Chinese knowledge to meet local demand and strengthen sectors such as textiles, electronics, agribusiness, and leather. Kenyan officials believe that the establishment of factories by Chinese companies would contribute to realizing the country’s vision of becoming the industrial hub of Africa.
