Kenya : Denmark’s support to strengthen the maritime sector
Kenya will receive support from Denmark to enhance its maritime sector, according to Geoffrey Kaituko, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs. The Danish Maritime Authority will collaborate with the Kenyan Maritime Authority to improve services and inspections while training ship controllers and inspectors. This partnership also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with a target of 5% to zero by 2050. Additionally, ten Kenyan cadets will receive annual 12-month maritime training aboard Maersk vessels.
