Intra-African trade estimated at $193.17 billion in 2022
Intra-African trade grew by 18.6% in 2022, to $193.17 billion. According to a report published by Afreximbank, the increase in commodity prices and the increase in exports of energy products to Europe have enabled the continent to register a trade surplus of 18.1 billion dollars in 2022. Intra trade -regional thus represented 15% of the continent’s total trade during the past year. The report also indicates that the total value of Africa’s intra-regional and extra-regional trade increased by 20.9% in 2022, to reach $1,430.1 billion.
