free visa for all Africans from May 25, 2026

Ghana will introduce a free visa regime for all African nationals effective May 25, 2026, aligning with Africa Day, President John Dramani Mahama announced. Under the new policy, African citizens will be able to obtain e‑visas online at no cost through a forthcoming electronic system.
Government officials have clarified that while visa fees will be waived, applicants must still complete the standard e‑visa application and undergo security screening before entry. The move is part of broader digital immigration reforms aimed at boosting intra‑African mobility, tourism, trade and regional integration, strengthening Ghana’s role as a Pan‑African hub.
