Ghana : $5 billion trade surplus driven by gold exports

The Bank of Ghana reports a $5 billion trade surplus for 2024, up from $2.7 billion the previous year. This surge is driven by a 50% increase in gold exports, which reached $11.6 billion. Total exports grew to $20.2 billion, while imports rose slightly to $15.2 billion. The current account improved from 3.5% to 5.9% of GDP, helping to support the cedi against the dollar.
