On June 4, 2024, Seoul hosted the first South Korea-Africa Summit, bringing together 25 heads of state and 48 African delegations. The aim is to strengthen economic and political relations. South Korea seeks to diversify its supply of raw materials in exchange for technology transfers. Meanwhile, Seoul has pledged to double its development aid to Africa by 2030.
