Finances : record drop in Chinese loans in Africa

China’s loans to African governments in 2022 have fallen to their lowest level since 2004. They now stand at just $994.48 million. For the years 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Export-Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) remained the main lender in Africa, granting nine of the 16 loans recorded during this period for an amount of 1.42 billion dollars.
