Ethiopia : Ethiotelecom opens 10% of its capital

Ethiotelecom, a historic player in Ethiopia’s telecommunications sector, is set to sell 10% of its shares to the public starting October 23, 2024. This move marks the end of its monopoly and aligns with the country’s economic reforms, promoting private investment. According to internal sources, this partial privatization aims to attract both national and international investors, improve service quality, and drive innovation. However, the state will retain the majority stake, ensuring the public interest remains safeguarded.
