Egypt : China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co launches gigantic 10-gigawatt solar power project

China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Co (EEHC), to start studies for a gigantic 10-gigawatt solar power project.

This memorandum of understanding is part of Cairo’s strategy to increase renewable energy capacity and limit the use of fossil fuels, thus contributing to the realization of the Egyptian government’s sustainable energy plan.

Ultimately, the project is expected to generate 29.784 GW of clean energy per year, eliminating 14 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in the land of the pharaohs.
