The results of the 2019 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) have been published. Cape Verde, with a score of 58/100 therefore, ranks 1st in ECOWAS. While Ghana (80th out of 180 globally), hitherto considered a beacon of democracy in West Africa, has fallen by seven points on the CPI since 2014, going from 48 in 2014 to 41 in 2019 This is due to revelations of corruption before the country’s High Court of Justice.
