According to the ranking of Forbes magazine, « Best Countries for Business », Mauritius is ranked first among African countries, placed 39th out of 161 evaluated states.
The ranking was based on the economic freedom index of the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank and the World Economic Forum’s annual competitiveness report.
