On November 6, 2025, Burkina Faso’s Council of Ministers approved the launch of the AES biometric ID card, a milestone in modernizing national identification systems. The new card, valid for 10 years, meets international standards and includes advanced biometric data to enhance security and streamline access to public services. It also promotes regional integration within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), alongside Mali and Niger.
