Publication : a new analysis on Africa’s economic and social challenges in 2025

Each year, the French Development Agency (AFD) offers unprecedented analyses on major issues shaping Africa’s future through its « Repères » collection. The latest edition, “African Economy 2025,” focuses on the continent’s resilience to recent shocks while highlighting divergent national trajectories. The study also addresses growing distrust of public authorities and the liberal democratic model, as well as the rise of new forms of civic action. It explores the role of African scientific research in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and examines whether artificial intelligence could become a development lever for Africa or, conversely, an obstacle to its independence.
